In plain words. An API key is like a password for apps: it lets ChatGPT or Claude work with your Finmap. You’ll find it in Settings → API. MCP is the way an AI chat connects to Finmap. No technical skills needed: add Finmap in your chat settings and paste the key.

Folio — an AI assistant that works on its own
A separate desktop app with the Claude assistant inside. Unlike a chat, Folio can run tasks on a schedule by itself: categorize payments daily, reconcile statements, import new files.

Do I need to pay extra for AI?
AI agents are included in your Finmap plan; the number of requests depends on the plan. ChatGPT, Claude and Folio require a Finmap plan with open API (Pro, Advanced or Full Access). ChatGPT must be on a paid plan, Claude can be free, and Folio works with a paid Claude subscription.
Where do I start if I’ve never used AI?
With the AI agents — they’re already in your account. Open «AI Advisor» in the top bar and ask, for example: “Give me an overview of this month”.
How many AI requests do I have?
It depends on your plan: there are daily and monthly limits. You can see how many you’ve used in the «Usage» panel of the AI Advisor. If you see error 429, the limit is reached — contact support to extend it.
Is it safe to give AI my data?
AI sees only the data of the company you’re currently working in. Your data isn’t used to train models, request logs are deleted after 30 days and the connection is encrypted. Colleagues can’t see your AI conversations. ChatGPT, Claude and Folio work within your API key’s permissions — you can revoke access at any time by deleting the key in settings.
AI agents or auto-rules — which should I use?
Auto-rules run automatically on every new operation that matches a condition — for regular routine. AI agents work only when you ask — for one-off tasks and analysis. About auto-rules →
Can I trust AI answers?
AI analyzes data quickly and highlights what matters, but it doesn’t replace an accountant. If AI figures differ from your reports, the ones in Finmap are correct. Check important decisions and tax questions with a specialist.
