Finmap AI tools: where to start
Which AI tools Finmap has, how they differ, and where to start if you haven’t used AI before.
There are 4 ways to work with AI in Finmap: from the simplest one, already in your account, to your own agent. You don't have to try them all. Start with step 1 and move on only when you want more.

AI advisor, MCP, Folio — what's the difference?
AI advisor is an assistant built into Finmap. You write to it, it answers and takes actions with your data.
MCP is a "bridge" between Finmap and the AI chat you already use (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini). The chat is yours, the data comes from Finmap.
Folio is the same bridge, but as a local app on your computer.

Good fit if you're new to AI and want to try it without installing or connecting anything.
What it can do:
- answers questions about your finances: "How much did we spend on advertising in September?";
- creates, edits and deletes transactions on request;
- checks reports and payments: duplicates, sudden spikes, unusual exchange rates;
- turns PDF, Excel and CSV statements and receipt photos into transactions (AI Import);
- prepares a PDF report for an investor or bank.
It also works without a request. After you connect a bank or import data, Finmap suggests categories for new transactions on its own. About category suggestions →

Good fit if you already use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and want to work with your Finmap data there: build your own charts, combine Finmap with other services, handle more complex tasks.
What you need: a Pro, Advanced or Full Access plan and an API key (API).

FAQ
Do I need to pay extra for AI?
The AI advisor is included in your Finmap plan; the number of requests depends on the plan. MCP and Folio require a Finmap plan with open API (Pro, Advanced or Full Access). ChatGPT must be on a paid plan, Claude can be free, and Folio works with a paid Claude subscription.
Is it safe to give AI my data?
AI sees only the data of the company you're currently working in. Your data isn't used to train models, request logs are deleted after 30 days, and the connection is encrypted. Colleagues can't see your AI conversations. MCP and Folio work within your API key's permissions — you can revoke access at any time by deleting the key in settings.
How many AI requests do I have?
It depends on your plan: there are daily and monthly limits. You can see how many you've used in the "Usage" panel of the AI advisor. If you see error 429, the limit is reached — contact support.
Can I trust AI answers?
AI quickly analyzes data and highlights what matters, but it doesn't replace an accountant. If AI figures differ from your reports, the ones in Finmap are correct.
